Jiri Lev Architects is an Australian architectural partnership based in Tasmania, with projects spanning four continents. Our work encompasses residential, civic, commercial and sacred architecture, heritage conservation and urban design.

We have a particular interest in traditional, classical and vernacular architecture, drawing upon local building traditions, natural materials and craftsmanship to create buildings that are beautiful, practical, enduring and appropriate to their surroundings.

Our approach combines established architectural principles with contemporary needs and technologies. We believe that good architecture should be affordable, healthy and inherently sustainable, and that new buildings should contribute to the distinctive character of the places in which they stand.

The practice is led by Jiri Lev, a Czech-born Australian registered architect and urbanist, working with an established network of professional collaborators and specialist consultants. Our principal-led approach allows us to maintain close involvement in each commission, from initial design through to construction.

Our work includes projects of varying scales, from modest private dwellings and heritage restorations to churches, public buildings and the planning of communities.

Beyond commissioned work, we have a longstanding commitment to public-interest architecture. In 2020, Jiri founded Architects Assist, a national initiative that brought together hundreds of architectural practices to provide pro bono assistance to communities affected by the Australian bushfires. In 2021, he established Architekti Pro Bono in the Czech Republic following the devastating South Moravian tornado.

Jiri is also the founding president of The Architects Association, an independent professional organisation advancing traditional, classical and locally characteristic architecture across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

We regard architecture as both a profession and a public responsibility, with the potential to enrich everyday life and create a worthwhile inheritance for future generations.
